Bespoke Jewellery at Tibarumal & Sons: From Sketch to Setting
Sometimes the piece you have in mind does not exist yet. It might be a necklace inspired by your grandmother's, a ring with a particular stone, or a bridal set designed around your outfit. At Tibarumal & Sons Jewellers, Shaikpet, we make custom jewellery for exactly these moments. Here is how the process works.
The consultation
Every bespoke piece begins with a conversation. We will ask about:
- the occasion, such as a wedding, anniversary or milestone,
- the design idea, including any photos, sketches or family pieces for inspiration,
- how you will wear it, whether daily or for special occasions,
- your budget, so we can guide the choice of metal, stones and weight,
- your timeline, so we can plan realistically.

Design and sketch
Once we understand what you want, we develop the design. You will see a sketch or visual of the proposed piece, showing its shape, proportions and details.
This is the time to make changes. Adjust the size, simplify a motif, add a detail: the design is refined with you until it feels right. Nothing moves into making until you have approved the design.
Choosing metal and stones
Next, we help you choose the materials:
- Metal and purity: 22K is the classic choice for traditional gold jewellery, while 18K is often used for diamond and gemstone work because it holds stones more securely. Read 22K vs 18K vs 14K Gold.
- Stones: diamonds, polki, emeralds, rubies, sapphires or pearls, selected for quality, size and colour. We will show you options and explain the differences.
Where possible, you can see and choose stones yourself before they are set.
The making
Our craftsmen then bring the design to life. Depending on the piece, this can involve traditional techniques such as jadau setting, nakshi work and meenakari, alongside modern methods for precision.
We keep you informed along the way and let you know if any decision needs your input.
Timelines and cost
Every custom piece is different, so timelines and costs depend on the design.
Timelines are shaped by the complexity of the work, the stones involved and the time of year. Simple pieces take less time; elaborate bridal sets take considerably longer. During wedding and festival seasons, it is wise to start early. See Wedding Jewellery Timeline.
