Polki Chokers: How to Style Them and What to Look For
The polki choker is one of the most striking pieces in Indian bridal jewellery. Sitting close to the neck and glowing with uncut diamonds, it frames the face beautifully. This guide explains why the choker form suits polki so well, how to style one, and what to check before you buy.
Why the choker form suits polki
Polki diamonds are uncut, with a soft, luminous glow rather than sharp sparkle. In a choker, that glow sits right beside the face, where it catches light gently and flatters the skin.
The choker's close fit also shows off the craftsmanship of jadau setting, with stones arranged in rows or motifs across a broad gold base. What to look for
- Polki quality: look for good transparency, whiter stones and a pleasing surface. Cloudy or heavily included stones are lower in value.
- Matching: stones should be well matched in size and colour across the choker.
- Setting quality: stones should sit securely and evenly in the gold, with neat jadau work.

- Clear pricing: polki weight, gold weight, other stones and making charges should be listed separately.
Care
- Keep it away from water, perfume and lotions, which can damage foil backings and enamel.
- Put it on last and take it off first.
- Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
- Store it flat in a lined box, separately from other jewellery.
- Have it checked by your jeweller before important occasions.
